EMERGENCY FOOD DRIVE
Due to the government shutdown, SNAP recipients were issued their February benefits early – on January 20th. Knowing that SNAP benefits often do not last the entire month, we are concerned that households could use all of their benefits even earlier in the month than usual. If the shutdown continues, no March benefits will be issued.
We are preparing to respond to the increased need by hosting an emergency food drive. Beginning today, we welcome donations of the items listed below. Monetary donations can help us purchase fresh produce, milk, eggs, and proteins.
Donations can be dropped off at our pantry at 1183B Kingstown Road in Peace Dale on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 4:30 pm; Friday 9:30 to 3:00 pm; and Saturday from 9:30 to 2:00 pm. Thank you!
Items to donate:
Canned tuna and chicken
Pasta and sauce
Soups and crackers
Canned fruits and vegetables

Plant a Row
We welcome donations of fresh produce. The Plant a Row program is a simple way that local gardeners and farmers can help fight hunger in our community. Simply plant a row in your home or community garden and donate your harvest to the Center. Every little bit counts.
We encourage individuals, organizations, businesses, and civic groups to conduct food drives on behalf of the Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale. We simply ask that you call in advance and schedule a drop-off time with our food programs director, David Olguin, 284-0303 by email at email@example.com. Feel free to print a Food Drive Sign.
