Helping Our Struggling Neighbors

Holiday Donations

The Welcome House of South County and Jonnycake Center of Peace Dale are partnering to make the holidays brighter for local residents who are struggling to make ends meet.  This includes adults living in the Welcome House shelter and supportive housing; seniors living on a fixed income; and South Kingstown and Narragansett school children whose families will struggle to fulfill their holiday wishes without a little extra help.

Based on the needs that exist, we have established the following goals:

Gift cards for 400 school-aged children
We encourage gift cards for Walmart, Wakefield Mall stores, VISA/Mastercard,
Marshalls, and Game Stop.  In addition, we welcome gifts of warm clothing for children.

Gifts for 35 adults living in Welcome House housing
We encourage gift cards for local grocers, pharmacies, and gasoline.  In addition, gifts of hats, gloves, socks, and warm clothing are needed.

Gifts for 150 homebound and low-income seniors
We encourage gifts cards for pharmacies and grocers, as well as blankets, scarves, hats and gloves that can keep our seniors toasty warm.

All gifts and gift cards are tax deductible and should be delivered by December 10th.

Donations can be dropped off at the Welcome House at 8 North Road, Peace Dale or the Jonnycake Center at 1231 Kingstown Road, Peace Dale in the rear of the building.  For questions or concerns, contact Allison Martinez at (782-4770 ext. 104) or Jenny Allen at (789-1559 ext. 10.)

Thank you for making the holidays brighter for hundreds of local residents!
