50th Anniversary Celebration
In 1974, a group of concerned community members started what they called “The Jonnycake Group” to provide those struggling to make ends meet with food and clothing during the recession.
Fifty years later, the Center has grown into a robust organization that provides access to healthy food, nutrition and wellness education, youth enrichment opportunities, service-enhanced housing and economic empowerment initiatives.
To commemorate this very special time we will be hosting four events throughout the year that will honor and engage our past, present, and future partners, board members, volunteers, staff, and most importantly, the community we serve.
50th Anniversary Kick-off
April 22nd, 2024
On this day in 1974, The Jonnycake food pantry and thrift store opened its doors to the community. Past and present board members are invited to join us at our headquarters for refreshments, a tour of our new building, and to learn all about what we have going on at the Center today.
Breaking the Waves of Hunger Gala
May 31st, 2024
We are back at the Dunes Club in Narragansett for our largest fundraising event of the year. Join us in the fight against hunger and poverty for a night filled with live music, delicious food, a complimentary cocktail hour, and silent auction.
Ocean State Waves Game for Members

Jonnycake Members will be provided tickets to a Waves game to enjoy any time during the 2024 season!
