Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Returns to Wakefield
Wood River Health Services will be on site to offer WIC. In addition to WIC benefits, participants will be eligible for diapers, fresh produce, and more. WIC representatives will be at the Jonnycake Center on the first Friday and last Thursday and Friday of the month from 9:00am to 3:00pm as follows:
February 2nd, 22nd & 23rd; March 1st, 28th & 29th; April 5th, 25th & 26th; May 3rd, 30th & 31st; and June 1st, 27th & 28th.

RI Food, Fitness, and Fun
RI Food, Fitness, and Fun is an eight-week program for middle school students who desire to live a healthier lifestyle. Participants will enjoy one day of cooking and nutrition lessons at the Jonnycake Center and one day of activities and fun at the YMCA of South County. The Jonnycake Market is a client-choice food pantry committed to providing households with healthy food. There are a host of shopping opportunities available including school vacation meals during school breaks for children who attend the South Kingstown, Narragansett, or Block Island school system. The Jeff Melish Fund for Basic Needs
Emergency assistance is available to assist with first month’s rent to secure new housing; missed rent to prevent evictions; help with utilities; assistance with car repairs and transportation; and more. A comprehensive assessment of the situation and household finances is required.
Children’s Enrichment Referrals
Assistance with accessing summer camp, after-school programming and enrichment activities is available. Back-to-school supplies are provided before the start of the school year.
Jonnycake Neighbors
We now offer landlords incentives to help mitigate financial risk and make the rental experience a positive one. Landlords can also encourage tenants to participate in our “ready to rent” 8-hour course designed to help tenants be successful renters.
Community Health Outreach
Our community health worker helps households experiencing significant challenges connect with resources, health care providers, and basic needs. Home visits and accompaniment to critical appointments and services available.
